Meet Kenia Feunekes, Plug’s Senior Cost Estimator based in our Netherlands office. From the early project phase of concept screening and feasibility studies to the more mature CAPEX estimates, Kenia puzzles together the backbone of our hydrogen plant projects. Her journey to Plug was driven by a deep-seated passion for sustainability, drawing from her background spanning industries from Oil & Gas to Renewable Energy. Kenia joined Plug in late 2023 because she was drawn to Plug’s mission to build affordable green hydrogen plants as part of the 2030 and 2050 European Climate targets.

A typical day for Kenia is a blend of deadlines and long-term tasks. From crafting capital estimates to analyzing various scenarios, her focus remains on providing valuable insights for informed decision-making within the business. “Translating the technical documentation into numbers in the cost estimate and mixing it with common sense is my expertise.” When under the stress of tight deadlines, Kenia likes to ask, “Do you want it ‘right’ or ‘right now’?” Amidst the hustle and bustle, there’s always time for a coffee break and a chat with colleagues, fostering a sense of camaraderie within the team.

Outside work hours, Kenia leads an active lifestyle. She enjoys hitting the gym, exploring new cuisines, walking her young Kooikerhondje dog, and traveling with her husband. With a love of water activities, Kenia has found that Stand Up Paddleboarding suits her style, a fitting pastime for someone who grew up rafting challenging river grades in Indonesia. She’s also found a passion for building Lego Star Wars and Lego Technic sets in her free time – a holdover from Covid times.
