Plug’s Global IT HelpDesk Manager talks about moving the hydrogen economy forward.
Emily Gluskin can list several reasons why she joined Plug last year as the Global IT HelpDesk Manager. For starters, she wanted to move the hydrogen economy forward. Secondly, as a mother, she wanted work-life balance. Finally, she wanted a diverse environment where days varied, but all is exciting.
She checked off each of those boxes at Plug.
“The beauty and excitement of Plug is the diversity of each day,” Gluskin said. “The dynamic atmosphere is both challenging and rewarding. This is a place where you will feel valued for your contributions to the greater cause.”
As the Global IT HelpDesk Manager, Gluskin is tasked with strategizing and collaborating with employees across the company to execute an enhanced global coverage model to provide real-time IT support to employees worldwide.
She’s had many career highlights since joining Plug nine months ago, including the build out of a global IT department.
“This growth, along with standardization of internal IT processes has allowed us to reduce our response time to employee requests from weeks to days,” she said.
While she’s guiding the department and the company in all things IT, Gluskin is learning a lot along the way.
“The energy industry is new to me, so asking my colleagues questions about whatthey do not only helps me understand more about Plug’s business but gives me more insight on how we can make our technology better meet their needs,” Gluskin said. “Technology is a critical building block to our business, so staying ahead of the curve is essential.”
Best of all, she can go home to her family without the stresses of her job.
“Working for a company that understands the importance of family and offers flexibility when needed to their employees is invaluable to me,” she said.
