PowerSpot: Zac Seaver

This is PowerSpot, Plug Power’s monthly blog series where we highlight the Plug Power employees who inspire us and, we hope, will inspire you, too. Today, we’re meeting Field Application Engineer, Zac Seaver.

Zac, could you please explain what you do for a living in 20 words or fewer?

I work with the sales department to develop new and non-standard engineering solutions for our customers – currently in e-mobility and stationary power applications.

What are three words that describe you?

Adventurous, Nerdy, and Outgoing

What about hydrogen and fuel cells inspires you most?

The world is in dire need of a plan to move away from fossil fuels to mitigate our impact on the climate and environment. Hydrogen has the potential to transition many industries to a clean and renewable power source today.

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be?

Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Charles Darwin, and Elon Musk

I think I’d like to share a meal with the four of them together. It would be interesting to see how those incredible minds of the past and present would interpret everything that is going on today. I’d like to get some perspective from some of the most brilliant minds of a century ago, along with one of the most influential and progressive tech philosophers/entrepreneurs of today.

Share your favorite movie, and why it’s top on your list.

The Lord of the Rings

Tolkien not only created a story that dives into the meaning of friendship and perseverance, he also created an entire universe to surround it. The depth of the storytelling, the creation of complete languages, and the true expanse of background allows one to lose themselves in the lore, unlike most other works of fiction. I also have to give Peter Jackson some credit. The videography, casting and special effects were spectacular, especially for the time.

Do you have a life philosophy? If so, what is it?

It would have to be “try to leave everything better than what it was before.” I believe this applies to most situations in life, whether that be picking up trash that you find along the way, being kinder than necessary to other people, taking the extra step at work to improve something that isn’t necessarily your job, or finding ways to reduce your environmental impact.

Our thanks to Zac for helping to make Plug Power a better place to work and serve our customers.
