PowerSpot: Katlyn Conaway

This is PowerSpot, Plug Power’s monthly blog series where we highlight the Plug Power employees who inspire us and, we hope, will inspire you, too. Today, we’re hearing from Katlyn Conaway, Plug Power’s MEA Material Development Manager.

Katlyn, could you please explain what you do for a living in 20 words or fewer.

My team is responsible for qualifying raw materials to reduce cost and improve performance of our MEAs (membrane electrode assembly).

What are 3 words that describe you?

1.      Passionate – I’m really motivated to give my best effort at everything I do.
2.      Organized – I love organizing and planning both at home and at work. It helps keep me from stressing out too much when there is a lot to do!
3.      Crafty – In my spare time I love working on crafts at home such as crocheting, scrapbooking, and baking new recipes.

What is the most interesting thing about your role at Plug Power?

Working on MEA development, I get to work with a lot of different people at Plug Power across the engineering teams and production teams.  I am constantly learning something new from them all the time, which I really enjoy.

Aside from necessities, what’s one thing could you not go a day without?

Chapstick! I’m addicted to it and always have it on me.

What makes you laugh the most?

My husband. He has a way of making me laugh every day, no matter what’s going on. He pretty much can impersonate anyone and his impersonations make most people laugh pretty hard!

Please share a quote from someone who inspires you.

“If you live for having it all, what you have is never enough.” – Vicki Robin, author of Your Money or Your Life.  This is one book that has really inspired me to live a simpler life and be grateful for everything I already have.

Thank you, Katlyn, for sharing your talents with Plug Power!
