Plug Power CEO Discusses Commercial Fuel Cells with Clean Air Act Advisory Committee

Today, Plug Power’s CEO, Andy Marsh is participating in Mobile Sources Technical Review Subcommittee panel on Emerging Technologies for Freight, sponsored by the Clean Air Act Advisory Committee (CAAAC). Chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the CAAAC was established to advise the EPA on issues related to implementing the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990.

Mr. Marsh joins representatives from UPS, Daimler Trucks North America and Build Your Dreams North America to answer key questions including: “What are the emerging technologies that can reduce fuel use and emissions from freight?”, “ Which technologies are most promising?” and “What are the key barriers to adoption?”

At today’s subcommittee panel, Mr. Marsh is discussing how fuel cells are a key enabler for on-road electric vehicles which demand high-utilization, such as electric delivery trucks, vans, and buses.

 

This is a value proposition that Plug Power is proving today with its trial with FedEx. The ProGen engine-powered delivery van has accumulated more than 14,000 miles on-road delivery packages. This vehicle achieves 160 miles per delivery cycle — that’s a 166% increase over standard battery power.

Hydrogen is leading the drive to electrification. It’s conversations like today’s that will keep the United States at the forefront of hydrogen economy.
